This study proved that autophagy plays a key role in promoting liver regeneration, alleviating liver injury, and prolonging mice's survival after PH. The pharmacological regulation of verapamil on autophagy effectively promoted liver regeneration, hepatocyte production, and survival in mice and reduced liver injury in mice after PH. Autophagy is expected to become a key target for NAFLD treatment and open up a new direction for the prevention and treatment of obesity, T2DM, Mets, and other diseases.
