Dataset

Inside EU Horizon 2020 project: ALPHEUS, a Positive Displacement Reversible Pump-Turbine is studied as potential use for low-head pumped hydro storage applications. This dataset includes the CFD setup of a lobe pump-turbine that was used to validate the numerical mode with the experimental data produced in the ALPHEUS project, and published in Deliverable D2.5 in https://data.4tu.nl/datasets/370f4182-827c-4e45-9781-94c61cfd6509 .

PhD thesis that contains all the relevant analyses and comparisons between CFD and Experiment results is included: see Chapter 4. ANSYS CFX and TwinMesh were used as solver and mesh creation. The TwinMesh software is needed to generate and export the deformable mesh to CFX, which size is too big to be included in this dataset, but the reference CAD is included, as well as the CFD boundary conditions which are described in the PhD thesis. Main results showed average flow rate values, pressure and u- and v- velocities fields. Velocity fields are added in this dataset (.csv) and they were exported to MatLab.
