Data and code underlying the master thesis: Goal-setting dialogue for physical activity with a virtual coach
doi: 10.4121/20047328
This dataset contains data and analysis from the experiment conducted for the thesis Goal-setting dialogue for physical activity with a virtual coach.
We studied goal-setting with a virtual coach (conversational agent). The purpose of this study was to find out whether presenting examples of people who achieved a running or walking goal enhances running or walking self-efficacy of the user. We evaluated two example types: general examples (the overall most motivating examples) or examples that were personalized. Personalized examples were examples that people similar to the user considered motivating.
An experiment was conducted to evaluate whether there was an increase in users' self-efficacy after the conversation with the virtual coach, how motivating the given examples were, and users' attitudes towards the virtual coach.
