Dataset

The dataset contains supplementary data for the ESAFORM 2023 conference paper entitled: 'Experimental setup and method for the characterization of ply-ply adhesion for fiber-reinforced thermoplastics in melt'. The dataset consists of inter-ply adhesion tests on UD C/LM-PAEK in melt using purpose-designed and built setup for the use in a rheometer at the University of Twente. The ply-ply adhesion experiments simulate the delamination between plies during actual hot press forming of thermoplastic matrix composite laminates. A ply-ply bond is created during a compression phase, after which a constant upward displacement is applied while the required normal force is measured. The design of the setup is described in the aformentioned conference article. Two series of tests were performed. The first series dealt with the repeatability of a test specimen in the setup, for which several specimens were tested repeatedly . The second series investigated the effect of the compression phase (both the compression time and the applied normal pressure). The used specimens and their conditions as well as the used Matlab scripts to analyze the data are included. The data is ordered in folders referring to the figures and table as presented in the aformentioned conference article.
