These data refer to the second test campaign of the SHIVER project, conducted in the Ice and Wave tank of Aalto University in spring 2023.

Basin tests were performed to gather data on ice action, ice-structure interaction, ice scaling and limitations of real-time hybrid simulations in model ice to improve model tests of ice-induced vibration of offshore structures (e.g., offshore wind turbines, lighthouses or channel markers).

Tests were conducted with a real-time hybrid test setup, which already had been used during the first test campaign of the SHIVER project (go to publicationgo to data). Small modification of the setup allowed to test substructures with different diameters and shape at the water line and improved data reliability. Specific experiments were conducted to investigate the limitations of the real-time hybrid test setup. Thereby structural models have been scaled to initiate instability of the real-time hybrid simulations. The applied scaling method is explained in more detail in a separate journal publication.
