This dataset contains the data underlying the studies presented in Chapters 3-5 of the PhD dissertation titled "Healthy air for children: Strategies for ventilation and air cleaning to control infectious respiratory particles in school classrooms" by E. Ding, supervised by Prof.dr.ir. P.M. Bluyssen and Dr. C. García-Sánchez. This PhD research aims to address the main research question of Which ventilation and air cleaning strategies can be used to effectively control the spread of infectious respiratory particles in school classrooms? and consists of four main studies:

  1. A literature review to establish the research context and background regarding infectious respiratory particle control and ventilation in school classrooms, and define research gaps (Chapter 2). No data was generated or collected for this chapter.
  2. A field study to investigate ventilation sufficiency and thermal conditions in Dutch secondary schools under the effects of pandemic control and prevention measures (Chapter 3). Data related to this chapter is integrated in the file Chapter_3_PhD_Dissertation_EDing.rar.
  3. An experimental study to develop strategies for using mobile air cleaners to efficiently remove infectious respiratory particles in school classrooms (Chapter 4). Dara related to this chapter is integrated in the file Chapter_4_PhD_Dissertation_EDing.rar.
  4. A combination of an experimental study and a computational study to explore the potential of using a personalized air cleaner to locally remove infectious respiratory particles in a classroom setting. Data related to this chapter is integrated in the file Chapter_6_PhD_Dissertation_EDing.rar.
