Master thesis title: Green roofs cooling performance in heat-stress prone neighborhoods under future climate projections
Supervisor: Lixia Chu (Urban Systems Engineering)
Co-supervisor: Gert-Jan Steeneveld(Meteorology and Air Quality)
This research aims to understand the effect of green roofs on outdoor human thermal comfort and their cooling performance under future climate projections in Amsterdam's heat-stress-prone neighborhoods. The analysis uses the 3D-microscale ENVI-met software (V5.7) which helps to quantify the thermal benefits of implementing green roofs.
The spatial setup was created using the Geodata to ENVI-met plugin in QGIS. The following documents contain two different spatial setups for the Anjelierstraat neighborhood: one with green roofs and one without. This neighborhood was selected due to its high heat stress, roof characteristics, and proximity to a weather station. Detailed information about the data sources and model setup can be found in the README document.
