The methods, data and analysis related to "Novel sediment sampling method provides new insights into vertical grain size variability resulting from marine and aeolian processes on the beach" by van IJzendoorn et al. 2022 are collected in this repository.

The sand scraper design is made available in the form of drawings and photos supplemented with the manual of the original device to give insight into the use of the device in the field.

Grain size data collected with the sand scraper in 2020 and 2021 in Waldport (Oregon, USA), Noordwijk (the Netherlands) and Duck (North Carolina, USA) are provided. Additionally, elevation data that correspond to the field experiments are included.

The python code that was used to analyze the data and create the figures in the paper are included based on a Github repository.
