********Description:********
Sulphide oxidising bacteria (SOB) are known to spatially separate sulphide removal and current production, thereby acting as sulphide shuttles. The effect of anode potential, sulphide load and biomass concentration on discharge by sulphide shuttling SOB was investigated. SOB communities dominated by Thioalkalivibrio sulfidophilus were incubated with sulphide in batch experiments to produce sulphidic conditions. After sulphide had (partly) been removed the sulphidic SOB were exposed to potentials and current was measured. Discharge of sulphidic SOB were compared to discharge of aerated SOB and electrochemical oxidation of abiotic sulphide. The full methodology can be found in the related publication. 

********This dataset contains the following files:********
Data_Chronoamperometry.xlsx – This document contains current measured (in mA or µA) in time (s) during discharge of aerated SOB, sulphidic SOB, buffer and abiotic sulphide. The first seven rows contain the following meta data. Row 1: BES Experiment number. Row 2: SOB concentration in mgN/L. Row 3: SOB community used (further details on microbial community can be found in Data_NGS.xlsx), or N/A if no SOB were present. Row 4: sulphide load in mM. Row 5: Sulphide concentration measured after incubation time in mM (n.d. if no sulphide was detected, N/A if no suphide measurement was performed). Row 6: applied potential in V. Row 7: current was logged as mA or µA. The first sheet contains current collected every 5 or 10 seconds, the second sheet contains data collected every second. 
Data_CV.xlsx – This document contains the current (µA) measured during cyclic voltammetry performed on buffer, aerated SOB, abiotic sulphide, and sulphidic SOB. The first four rows contain the following meta data. Row 1: SOB concentration in mgN/L. Row 2: SOB community used (further details on microbial community can be found in Data_NGS.xlsx), or N/A if no SOB were present. Row 3: sulphide load in mM. Row 4: Sulphide concentration measured after incubation time in mM (n.d. if no sulphide was detected, N/A if no suphide measurement was performed).
Data_IC.xlsx – This document contains the sulphate and thiosulphate concentrations measured using IC during discharge at 0.1 V vs Ag/AgCl for >20 h. Sadly, the logged current got lost for some of the experiments. The following meta data is available. Column A: associated logged current (if available, otherwise N/A). Column B: SOB concentration in mgN/L. Column C: Sulphide load in mM. Column D: Time of sampling in h. Column E: measured sulphate concentration in mg/L. Column F: measured thiosulphate concentration in mg/L. 
Data_NGS.xlsx – This document contains the new generation sequencing data obtained from the microbial communities used for this dataset.
