*** General Introduction ***
This dataset contains authorship data of 1863 documents publisshed between 1998 and 2017 in 12 primarily maritime economics journals, selected based on defined keywords. The data were originally downloaded from Scopus in 2018 and then imported in a custom made database, where they were reviewed and manually corrected based on the actual published articles. This dataset forms part of the Ph.D. research of Odetti Nestoridou, currently a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Maritime Studies, University of Piraeus, Greece.

*** Scope of analysis ***
This dataset has been used in employing social network analysis to identify the structure of collaboration networks and calculate centrality and clustering metrics that demonstrate the central nodes as well as the foremost co-authorship patterns between authors, affiliations, affiliation countries.

*** Description of files in the dataset ***
This dataset consists of 3 sections network analysis and each section is analysed per 5-year period (4 5-year periods in total) and for the complete 20-year period. We have used NodeXL Pro for the metrics calculation.
The 3 sections are:
- Network analysis of the collaboration among countries
- Network analysis of the collaboration among institutions
- Network analysis of the collaboration among co-authors

Each workbook named "...nodexl.xlsx." contains the data in sheet "Edges" in columns A, B and N, while Column D is calculated. The calculations once performed were saved in sheet "Overall Metrics".

Finally, there are 5 workbooks named "... Articles.xlsx" that contain statistical data on the documents contained in the dataset.
