# **Mapping collaborative housing in Europe [Co-Lab Mapping] project data**

# 1. Introductory information
This dataset is the result of data collection and refinement within the Co-lab Mapping Project. The purpose of this data collection and refinement is to provide a scientifically-validated categorisation of the different collaborative housing forms in Europe, to create the basis for comparative and quantitative studies on collaborative housing. This promotes mutual learning and communication amongst users across countries and regions. It is being made public to facilitate use by other researchers and professionals in their own work.

## 1.4 Dataset description
This dataset contains quantitative data on collaborative housing forms in Sweden, Denmark, United Kingdom, and The Netherlands. This dataset includes:
- This README file [.txt]
- aggregated_data_SE_DK_UK_NL [.csv]: containing processed data of collaborative housing forms in Sweden, Denmark, United Kingdom, and The Netherlands.
- Codebook [.pdf]: describing the data structure and the methods for raw data processing. It also contains the necessary descriptions for a better understanding of each term.

## 1.5 Dates of data collection
The data was collected between November 2019 and February 2022.

## 1.6Keywords
Collaborative housing, quantitative data, categorisation, mapping

## 1.6 Language
English

## 1.7 Funding
- FAIR Data Fund, from April 2022 to July 2022
- Creative Industry KIEM programme grant, from January 2020 to June 2021
- Delft Technology Fellowship, from January 2018 to December 2019

# 2. Methodological information

## 2.1 Type and method of data collection
Quantitative raw data was collected and refined from primary sources, namely datasets provided by umbrella organisations from the different European countries involved in the project. In the case of Denmark, The Netherlands (data about CPOs), Sweden, UK, the datasets were provided in excel format. In the case of The Netherlands (general data about collaborative housing), data was displayed in the respective website as a list and further organised in an excel sheet (.xls) by the Co-Lab Mapping project team.

## 2.2 Methods for processing data
- Manual data processing
- Metadata not relevant for analysis was removed.
- Raw data was translated and organised manually according to the pre-defined categorisation system of collaborative housing forms. Please refer to the Codebook.pdf to review the data processing method by country.

## 2.3 Instrument or software-specific information
The Data were processed manually.

# 3. Data specific information

## 3.1 Codebook
For this dataset, a codebook was developed. This file describes the content, structure, and layout of the collected data. Please refer to the Codebook.pdf file of this dataset.

## 3.2 Raw data sources
- Data about senior cohousing in Denmark, provided by Realdania in April 2019
(https://www.realdania.org/)
- Data about cohousing and senior cohousing in Sweden, provided by Kollektivhus in November 2020 (http://kollektivhus.se/)
- Data about Community Land Trusts in the UK, provided by Community Land Trust Network in November 2020
