**Collaborators:**
- MARIN or Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (https://www.marin.nl/nl), for installing/reading out wind and
fuel consumption sensors + providing geological location data
- VanDam Shipping (https://www.vandamshipping.nl/), ship owner of the ANKIE allowing us to install the apparatus,
allowing the shipper to take samples, and sharing ship data on fuel consumption, location and wind samples
- TNO or applied STEM research association (https://www.tno.nl/en/), for providing the sampling apparatus and
conducting lab analysis

Title: Data underlying publication Salinity and Volatile Organic Compounds in Engine Room air of a Sea-Going Vessel
Used for: Salinity and Volatile Organic Compounds in Engine Room air of a Sea-Going Vessel
(soon to be published in Journal of Maritime Engineering & Technology)

**File(s):**
TNO (3): "2024-01 TNO NaCl results.pdf"; "2024-01 TNO VOC results.xls"; "2024-05 TNO NaCl results"
Lab results from TNO indicating the Na+, Cl- and K+ ion concentrations in the salt filters and the VOC analysis of the
sampling canisters

VanDam (2): "2024-01 VanDam Notes shipper.pdf"; "2024-04 VanDam Notes shipper.pdf"
Notes the shipper made during the sampling e.g. on wind speed, percipitation, time of starting and ending

Marin (4): "202312 MarinShipPositionWindData1.xls"; "202401 MarinShipPositionWindData2.xls"; ...
"202401 MarinShipPositionWindData3.xls"; "202404 MarinShipPositionWindData4.xls"
Data logging of the geological locatoin, date, time, fuel oil consumption of engines and wind data

TU Delft (13): "202401 TUDLabresultsNaCl.xls"; "202401 TUDLabresultsVOC"; "202405 TUDLabresultsNaCl"; all Matlab (.mls) files
Excel files are summaries of the shipper notes and TNO data
Matlab files import Marin data, and TUD Excel files to analyse the ship location, fuel oil consumption of engines and wind
data during sampling and plots figures.

**Abbreviations/nomenclature:**
FOC = Fuel oil consumption
NaCl = Sodium chloride, salt
VOC = Volatile organic compound

**Method**
To re-create the paper's data, use the TU Delft Excel files (which are based on TNO and VanDam data), the Marin Excel files
and the TU Delft Matlab scripts.
Before you run scripts, update the paths to the files so that the scripts run. Import files have been updated, but might
still contain minor conversion mistakes.
