***General Introduction*** 

This dataset contains alkenone isomer index, inferred salinity, iGDGT indices, diploptene, lignin, and bulk organic carbon and nitrogen isotopes in Lake Wudalianchi down core: . 

***Method description*** 

Alkenones were analyzed by an Agilent 7890N GC system equipped with a flame ionization detector (FID) and a Restek Rtx-200 GC column (105 m × 250 µm × 0.25 µm). The following GC-FID oven program was used: initial temperature of 50 °C (hold 2 min), ramp 20 °C /min to 255°C, ramp 3 °C /min to 320 °C (hold 25 min). 
GDGTs were analyzed using high performance liquid chromatography coupled to atmospheric pressure chemical ionization-mass spectrometry (HPLC-APCI-MS) with a Shimadzu LC-MS 8030. 
Diploptene was analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), and the δ13C values were analyzed by gas chromatography-isotope ratio mass spectrometry (GC-IRMS) with a Thermo Fisher Delta V.
Lignin phenols were analyzed on a gas chromatography coupled to an ISQ mass spectrometer.
