General Information:
This dataset contains the measured tool-ply and ply-ply friction data on UD C/PEKK (Solvay APC-FC) in melt performed with a friction tester at the University of Twente.
The data was collected between February and June 2021. The scripts used to process the friction data are included as well.
The dataset contains the supplementary data to a ESAFORM conference paper entitled: 'On the effect of release agent and heating time on tool-ply friction of thermoplastic composite in melt'

General purpose:
The general purpose of these experiments is to investigate the effect of release agent and heating time on the shear stress overshoot observed in start-up tool-ply friction tests.
Therefore, a range of different sliding velocities, temperatures and normal pressures were tested with and without the application of a release agent on the metal foils.
The pull force with displacement was recorded and the data can be found in the measurement data files starting with 'TP....lvm'. In the second series of experiments, the heating time was varied for both tool-ply and ply-ply
configurations and the data can be found in the measurement files starting with 'S_c_pekk....txt'.
The used specimens are detailed in 'Specimens.pdf', including unique label, material used, test conditions and type of test. The unique label is also attachted to the measurement data files.

Test equipment:
A benchmarked friction tester with a 1 kN loadcell located at the University of Twente was used to perform the friction tests. A general description of the test procedure
can be found in the document 'Experimental methods friction tests.pdf'. Some observations and notes made during the experiments can be found in 'Specimens.pdf'.

Measured data:
The data was recorded using LABview software and the measured data is organized per specimen, for which the unique lab has been used.
The following filename convention has been used for the first series of tests:
[type of test: tp = tool-ply]_[uniqu_label]_[test_conditions]
The test conditions can be found in 'Specimens.pdf'.
For the second series of test concerning the heating time, the following filename convention has been used:
	[material]_[type of test: pp = plyply]_[pressure]_[velocity]_[temperature]_[unique_label].txt
Again, the test conditions for each specimen can be found in 'Specimens.pdf'.
The following data can be found in each measurement data file (per column):
index [-], time [s], normal force bottom left [N], normal force top middle [N], normal force bottom right [N], pull force [N], temperature fixed plate [deg C], temperature moveable plate [deg C], horizontal displacement (4x, broken), vertical displacement [mm]
Note: each data file is linked to the unique label of a specimen following 'Specimen.xlsx'.
Matlab R2021a software is used to process the friction data. Matlab scripts per figure corresponding to the ones in the ESAFORM2021 conference paper are included. The force at the end of the measurement
is used to correct the data (zero force).
