********Description:********
The effects of performing Cyclic Voltammetry on reactor current and metal composition were investigated in abiotic and biotic CO2 fed electrochemical synthesis reactors.
The current and potential were recorded by the potentiostat and metal concentrations were measured in the catholyte by ICP analysis.
The full methodology is described in the material and methods section of the published paper.
The dataset consists of different excel files with reactor checkup data (can be used to verify hydraulic retention times, pH control, general issues), measured fatty acid and alcohol concentrations over time in the biotic reactor, potentiostat data of current and potential during continuous operation and during the Cyclic Voltammetry scans.

********This dataset contains the following files:********
Checkup abiotic reactors.xlsx - Reactor checkup data for all abiotic reactors (I to VI): pH (of controller "contr" and verified in a lab "lab" of catholyte "CAT" and anolyte "AN"), weight of bottle with 1 M HCl "HCl weight CAT" and of bottle with 1 M NaOH "NaOH weight CAT" used for the pH controller; weight of anolyte and catholyte medium bottles, respectively "medium weight AN" and "medium weight CAT"; temperature "Temp" of cabinet in which reactors were located; cathode potential and current, "PS (V) and PS (mA) for PotentioStat"; Remarks for issues and the actions to solve those
Checkup biotic reactors.xlsx - Reactor checkup data for the biotic reactor: pH (of controller "contr" and verified in a lab "lab" of catholyte "CAT" and anolyte "AN"), weight of bottle with 1 M HCl "HCl weight CAT" and of bottle with 1 M NaOH "NaOH weight CAT" used for the pH controller; weight of anolyte and catholyte medium bottles, respectively "medium weight AN" and "medium weight CAT"; temperature "Temp" of cabinet in which reactors were located; cathode potential and current, "PS (V) and PS (mA) for PotentioStat"; Remarks for issues and the actions to solve those; if HCl (X=HCl), catholyte (X=medium CAT)/anolyte medium (X=medium AN) were replaced or effluent bins (X=AN/CAT effluent) were emptied, "new X" is cheched "yes" and the new weight in g is described under "weight new X"
In the second sheet "VFAs", the Volatile Fatty Acid concentrations measured from liquid samples taken at various moments are shown in mM (mmol/L)
CV scans_raw.xlsx - sheet "Potentiostat data CV scans": current (I in mA) and cathode potential (E in V vs Ag/AgCl) values for three cycles of cyclic voltammetry for five biotic scans and six abiotic experiments
sheet "Biotic metal concentrations": concentrations of various elements measured with ICP for samples taken during continuous operation and during cyclic voltammetry of the biotic experiment, the wavelength at which the elements are measured are indicated behind the periodic table abbreviation of each element. If applicable, the relative standard deviation "RSD" percentages are represented on the right side for all measured elements. Sample specifications are indicated in column A-E. OD600 represents the optical density measured at 600nm vs demi water
sheet "Abiotic metal concentrations": concentrations of various elements measured with ICP for samples taken during continuous operation and during cyclic voltammetry of the abiotic experiments, the wavelength at which the elements are measured are indicated behind the periodic table abbreviation of each element. If applicable, the relative standard deviation "RSD" percentages are represented on the right side for all measured elements. Sample specifications are indicated in column A-E. OD600 represents the optical density measured at 600nm vs demi water
Ivium data abiotic exp.xlsx - Potentiostat data of current (mA) and cathode potential (V vs Ag/AgCl) measured every minute during continuous reactor operation in the abiotic experiments. The relative experiment time is indicated in column A, column E shows the time noted by the Ivium potentiostat. Different abiotic experiments are shown on different sheets
Ivium data biotic exp.xlsx - Potentiostat data of current (mA) and cathode potential (V vs Ag/AgCl) measured every minute during continuous reactor operation in the biotic experiment. The relative experiment time is indicated in column A, column E shows the time noted by the Ivium potentiostat. Different abiotic experiments are shown on different sheets
