4. Abstract of the thesis work for which the data is created:
With a continuously growing number of satellites in orbit, it becomes increasingly important to assess their impacts on the Earth's environment in a standardised manner. While interest in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for space missions has gained in strength in the past few years – particularly in Europe – no consensus has yet been reached on a single-score LCA system.
In this thesis, a consensus-based space LCA single-score is created through an international survey of experts. The report demonstrates retroactively the single-score’s use for the ecodesign of the Delft University of Technology’s Delfi-n3Xt space mission. A discussion is also held on ways of implementing the single-score into early design phases. Overall, this thesis highlights the importance of an easy-to-understand LCA tool for space systems. It shows the necessity for a tool that is implementable during the design phase of the mission, to incentivise space actors to further consider environmental impacts.

## GENERAL CONTENTS OF THE DATASET
-------------------------------------------------
This dataset contains Excel sheets with:
	1. the analysed answers of the survey done to reach a consensus on a space LCA single-score
	2. the results of Delfi-n3Xt's LCA
	3. the calculations made to obtain the recommended weighting factors.

Below is a more detailed look at each of these folders and files.

#### FOLDER: "Survey Answers"
-------------------------------------------------
This folder contains the answers to each of the four questionnaires given by the participants. Except for the 4th questionnaire, the answers of each question has been analysed further in their dedicated sheet. To differentiate quantitative answers (e.g. rankings) from qualitative (e.g. opinions or comments), the tab of these sheets are colour-coded: Blue for quatitative and Green for qualitative. Note that this is a general rule, which may vary slightly

All these answers are anonymous through the participants' Individual Codes. This prevents any participant to be identified, yet allows one to track any continuity in their responses.

An interested researcher can re-use these answers to reproduce the findings from the MSc thesis, or to expand on them.

#### FOLDER: "Delfi-n3Xt LCA results"
-------------------------------------------------
This folder contains the outputes of Brightway2, based on the LCA of Delfi-n3Xt as defined in the MSc thesis.

The LCA results of the launched Delfi-n3Xt Cubesat are given in all of the following three files, with their own emphasis:
	- `Delfi-n3Xt_LCIA-results_Per_Phase_Processed.xlsx' contains the results of the Delfi-n3Xt's LCA, in its entirety, as well as decomposed per Phase. This file also contains the single-score calculation.
	- `Delfi-n3Xt_LCIA-results_PhaseAB_Processed.xlsx' contains the results of Delfi-n3Xt's Phase A+B LCA
	- `Delfi-n3Xt_LCIA-results_PhaseCD_Processed.xlsx' contains the results of Delfi-n3Xt's Phase C+D LCA

The LCA results of the `ecodesigned' Delfi-n3Xt are given in the file `Delfi-n3Xt_LCIA-results__new_battery_Processed.xlsx'. As explained in the MSc thesis, the only change made with respect to the LCA whose results are shown in `Delfi-n3Xt_LCIA-results_Per_Phase_Processed.xlsx', is the change in battery technology

#### Excel: "Calculation of recommended Weights"
-------------------------------------------------
This Excel file contains the calculation done to reach the final weighting set, as recommeded in the thesis.

The "panelists' weights" (i.e. the average answers) in column C of all impact indicators but Water Use are copied from cells AA3:AO3 in sheet `03_Q11' of the excel file `Questionnaire_3__Analysed_Data__05_09_2023.xlsx' (from the folder `Survey Answers'). The "panelists' weights", is copied from the average of cells M4:M18 in `Questionnaire_4__Raw_Data__05_09_2023.xlsx'.
