***General Introduction***
This README file corresponds to the datafiles that are present in the folder "EcN-specific_qPCR_original_datafiles".
This dataset contains data collected during an in vivo experiment with pigs at the Wageningen University as part of the PhD Thesis Projects of Mirelle Geervliet and Hugo de Vries (first authors of the manuscript).
This research project was made possible by The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research and Vereniging Diervoeders Nederland (VDN).

***General Introduction***
This dataset contains data collected during an in vivo experiment with piglets as part of the PhD Thesis Projects of Mirelle Geervliet and Hugo de Vries (first authors of the manuscript).
DOI: 10.4121/12999620
This research project was made possible by The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research and Vereniging Diervoeders Nederland (VDN).

Date of study: September until November 2018
Location of study: Swine Research Centre, St. Antonis, The Netherlands

***Purpose of the study***
We hypothesized that early life consumption of E. coli Nissle 1917 alters the porcine gut microbiota development (composition), the intestinal epithelial barrier and the immune system.
In addition, we examined the temporal dynamics of these complex systems. A more developed and mature gut microbiota and immune system in early life could make the animals more resilient against invasive pathogens during the weaning phase and later in life.

***Description of the data in this dataset***
This folder contains info regarding the samples that were selected for the EcN-specific qPCR analysis. It additionally contains the raw qPCR datafile (in .pcrd format), and it contains the plate setup and results in the file named "qPCR_plate_setup_and_results".
