Impacts of harvesting methods on nutrient removal in Dutch forests exposed to high nitrogen deposition

Description:
Nutrient concentrations in tree compartments were assessed for seven major tree species in the Netherlands. Average nutrient concentrations in stems were based on measured concentrations in heartwood, sapwood and bark and estimated volumes and densities of these compartments. Similarly, average nutrient concentrations in branches were based on measured concentrations in coarse branches, fine branches and the bark of coarse branches and estimated volumes and densities of these compartments.

Keywords:
Stem wood harvest
Whole tree harvest
Wood nutrient concentrations
Nutrient balance
Nitrogen deposition
Base cation depletion

Spatial coverage:
Forests on sandy soils in the Netherlands

This dataset contains the following files:
"Wood dimensions data 2022.csv" File with data on diameter per stem of branch section and bark thickness.
"Wood nutrients data 2022.csv" File with data on measured nutrient concentrations per tree species, soil type, tree compartment.

Explanation of variables:
Wood dimensions data 2022.csv / The following columns are included.
Tree species:	English species name
Sc. name: Scientific species name
D over bark: Diameter of stem section over bark in cm
D heartwood:	Diameter of heartwood of stem section in cm
Bark thickness:	Thickness of bark of stem section (equals D over bark minus D under bark)

Wood nutrients data 2022.csv / The following columns are included.
sample-ID:	ID of the sample
plot ID:	ID of the plot
Tree species:	English species name
Sc. name:	Scientific species name
Dutch soil code:	Code of the 1:50 000 soil map of The Netherlands
lat:	decimal latitude coordinate of sample location
long:	decimal longitude coordinate of sample location
The following collumns include the measures nutrient concentrations per dry weight, with the following rows giving the tree compartment and concerning nutrient:
