1. Introductory information Title: Mapping decision making processes and information flows: Case study interviews Contents of the dataset: The dataset contains nine interview transcripts and four powerpoint files. Five interview reports are related to the first round of interviews: yyyy-mm-dd Interview WU 1.docx (Wageningen University) yyyy-mm-dd Interview TUE 1.docx (TU Eindhoven) yyyy-mm-dd Interview TUD 1.docx (TU Delft) yyyy-mm-dd Interview RU 1a.docx (Radboud University) yyyy-mm-dd Interview RU 1b.docx (Radboud University) Four interview transcripts are related to the second round of interviews: yyyy-mm-dd Interview WU 2.docx (Wageningen University) yyyy-mm-dd Interview TUE 2.docx (TU Eindhoven) yyyy-mm-dd Interview TUD 2.docx (TU Delft) yyyy-mm-dd Interview RU 2.docx (Radboud University) Each of these transcripts is accompanied by a Powerpoint file. The Powerpoint file contains the contents that are discussed with the interviewee during the interview: yyyy-mm-dd Interview WU 2 input.pptx (Wageningen University) yyyy-mm-dd Interview TUE 2 input.pptx (TU Eindhoven) yyyy-mm-dd Interview TUD 2 input.pptx (TU Delft) yyyy-mm-dd Interview RU 2 input.pptx (Radboud University) For further questions, contact Bart Valks: b.valks@tudelft.nl 2. Methodological information All of the data is collected through interviews. The first round of interviews is based on a semi-structured interview protocol. The objective of the first round of interviews is to map a process of designing or adjusting a campus strategy. For each of the interviews, audio recordings have been made. These have been processed into the interview reports contained in this dataset. The interview reports have been sent to the interviewees and finalised based on their additional comments, if applicable. Based on these transcripts, a decision maker journey and process and information diagrams have been drawn up that describe (1) which activities must be completed by whom to complete the process and (2) which information is required to complete each activity. The decision maker journey is made in Adobe Illustrator CC 2018, and the process and information diagrams in Microsoft Visio 2016. The process and information diagrams are an abstraction of the decision maker journey. These visualisations are all shown in the powerpoint files. The second round of interviews is based on the powerpoint. The objective of the second round of interviews is to validate the process diagrams, to make sure these reflect exactly the processes as they have taken place at each of the cases. In some interviews, the information diagrams are also discussed, though this is not necessary. In the interviews, the interviewer shows the diagram(s) on the screen in steps and discusses them with the interviewee. For each of the interviews, audio recordings have been made. The documents contained in the dataset are interview transcripts and reflect exactly what has been said. By using the transcript, the figures were adjusted accordingly. Then, the updated powerpoint files were sent to the interviewees detailing which adjustments were made in the interview. If applicable, additional adjustments were made based on their comments. 3. Data specific information In the reports of the first round of interviews, the questions (of the interviewer) are marked in bold; the answers (by the interviewee) are not. In the transcripts of the second round of interviews, the labels 'interviewer' and 'interviewee' denote who says what.
