Are you a researcher with a good example of shared data? Or do you know someone who is? Nominate yourself, another researcher or a research group, for the Dutch Data Prize!
In 2020 the Dutch Data Prize will be awarded for the sixth time to a researcher or research group that has made a special contribution to science by making research data accessible for new, or additional, research.
The prize consists of a sculpture and € 5.000 to make the data (even) more accessible.
As in previous years, Data Prizes will be awarded in three categories:
- humanities & social sciences;
- exact & technical sciences and
- medical & life
sciences.
This year’s award ceremony is embedded in a substantive programme for researchers, research supporters and data stewards on the 18th of November.
Nomination
You are encouraged to nominate your own work, or that of a colleague or research group, in one of these fields for the 2020 award. Nomination is possible until the 1st of June 2020. You can nominate yourself or someone else via the online nomination form.
Researchers may nominate themselves, or a fellow researcher or research group.
All researchers working in The Netherlands are eligible to participate in the Prize provided their research details meet the criteria set out below.
Nomination Criteria
To be eligible to win the Dutch Data Prize, the research details of nominees must meet the following criteria:
- The data must be stored in a 'trustworthy digital repository';
- The data are open access available, or the documentation of the dataset explains why this is not
possible and under which conditions interested parties can access the data; - The data or the research possibilities that come within reach are of (inter) national importance;
- The relevant data make it possible to answer new research questions or lead to new answers to old questions;
- The administrator or depositor of the data has ensured that the data are permanently
accessible and usable for others (indicator is, for example, the high quality of the metadata /
documentation); - The data are used a lot or have this potential
