With exciting developments in store for 2020 when we celebrate our 10th anniversary, Highlights 2019 looks back at the achievements of this past year.
With an additional 816 datasets curated and stored over the course of the year, we celebrated the 9,000 dataset milestone in December 2019. This continued growth of the repository, now also searchable by category, collection and institution, is a valuable asset for researchers in the science, technology, engineering, maths and design fields. The personalised service and support for researchers to document, store and publish their research data ensures researcher’s remain in control of their data while making it accessible to other researchers over time.
Our training offerings also diversified. In addition to the Essentials 4 Data Support course, the massive online open courseware (MOOC) on Delivering Research Data Management Services was successfully launched in the second half of the year.
Having introduced the Software Carpentries workshops in 2018, over the course of 2019 four workshops were held at TU Delft and one at TU Eindhoven with over 150 researchers trained in software management and programming essentials. Additionally, the first Genomic Data Carpentry held in June 2019 at TU Delft was attended by 23 researchers.
In 2019, we spoke with researchers who use 4TU.ResearchData services to manage their project, and research team, datasets. The showcase interviews provide insight into the multiple, tailor-made, ways in which 4TU.ResearchData supports researchers to manage the datasets from their projects and their research groups in keeping with the FAIR principles.
