The course focuses on anyone wanting to support researchers in storing, managing, archiving and sharing research data: a data supporter. Think, for instance, of (data) librarians, IT staff and researchers with duties involving data management. Research Data Netherlands has offered this course for 5 consecutive years for more than 300 data supporters.
Students are often Library employees working as information specialists. The course is also valuable for policy advisors and ICT-specialists. Essentials 4 Data Support is offered in both Dutch and English.
The first group course day is followed by a period of online study. The assignments completed in this period are reviewed by the coaches and fellow-students who provide feedback. After 6 weeks a second group course day on 5 March 2020. During this day guest speakers will take part in the programme.
The course curriculum was expanded and elaborated over the course of Summer of 2019 to include, among other topics, the latest technical developments, legal considerations (GDPR) and overarching themes such as zoals FAIR and EOSC.
