N2 - <p>The dataset contains the processed supporting data for the publication entitled "Rapid change of friction causes the illusion of touching a receding surface" under review in Royal Society Interface. In this paper, we elucidate the effects of changes in the frictional properties during an initial contact.</p>
<p>The raw data include images of the participants' fingerprints, which are sensitive, so they will be available only upon request.</p>
