N2 -
This dataset is intended to support the publication "Lift-Induced Wake Re-Energization for a VAWT-Based Multi-Rotor System" by Broertjes, Bensason, Sciacchitano, and Ferreira, published in the Journal of Physics: Conference series under DOI 10.1088/1742-6596/2767/7/072012 . The data includes the measured wake at four cross-steam planes downstream of a lab-scaled VAWT-based multirotor system. The wake was measured using a thick laser sheet coupled with particle-tracking velocimetry in TU Delft's Open-Jet Facility (OJF). The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of a de-coupled wake recovery strategy for MRS using high-lifting wings. Hence, the wake was measured for two cases, namely, the baseline (where no steering is applied) and with wings (where wings are mounted on the MRS to steer the wake). The README.m file should be used to understand the data structure and shared CAD files. The results provide an experimental proof-of-concept of high-lifting wings for enhanced wake recovery of a multi-rotor system and a database for future and ongoing numerical model development.
