Data includes DICOM files of prostates and the analysis of the data underlying the publication: Overcoming pubic arch interference in prostate brachytherapy using steerable needles.

Geometrical analyses were performed on datasets of 27 patients who had undergone a diagnostic MRI scan and of which the anatomy was segmented by an approved clinician. Objective of this research was to evaluate if the current clinical guidelines related to prostate volume and prostate accessibility are sufficient, and to define the requirement for needle steering for the avoidance of pubic arch interference.

The data was collected from the database of the Portsmouth Hospital University NHS Trust and the patient’s eligibility criteria for this study included clinical stage T1-T3b cancer, a Gleason score of ≥ 3+3, any serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA), and an original Vp of ≥ 60 cc based on the formula: Vp = π/6 × (height × width × length).
