This dataset supports the study aimed at enhancing the fixed charge density of saloplastic anion exchange membranes derived from non-stoichiometric PSS–PDADMAC polyelectrolyte complexes (PECs). The strategy involved overcharging the complexes with PDADMAC during the complexation step. Five different PECs were prepared with 0, 10, 20, 30, and 40 mol% excess and hot-pressed into thin, dense films. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy was used to accurately determine the polyelectrolyte molar ratios in the membranes, which enabled calculation of their ion exchange capacity (IEC). Water uptake experiments assessed the swelling behavior of the membranes, and these results, combined with IEC data, were used to calculate fixed charge densities. Finally, permselectivity and conductivity tests were conducted in varying KCl electrolyte concentrations (0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 M) to evaluate membrane performance and examine the influence of salt concentration and fixed charge density.
