With the arrival of the new media era, the popularity of campus sports and fitness apps has further increased. How to use fitness apps to solve the problem of college students' social anxiety will become a hot research topic. This study conducts a relevant questionnaire survey of the attachment to fitness apps, physical exercise self-efficiency, the willingness to engage in exercise and social anxiety among college students, and applies a structural equation model to analyse the influence path of fitness app use on college student’s social anxiety. The study shows that first, the level of attachment to fitness apps not only influences the willingness to engage in exercise and exercise self-efficacy but also influences anxiety and emotions. Second, the attachment to fitness apps has a strong positive impact on exercise, while the willingness to engage in exercise influences social relationships positively in an indirect way, forming a mediation effect. Third, physical exercise self-efficacy is influenced by exercise willingness; thus, the exercise will, as an intermediary, indirectly affect social anxiety. Therefore, countermeasures and other suggestions are put forward to reduce the level of social anxiety among college students by using fitness apps, which provides a new research idea for improving the willingness to engage in exercise and reducing the degree of social anxiety.
