This is the search terms and interview codebook for the peer-reviewed paper “Selling Satisfaction: A Qualitative Analysis of Cybersecurity Awareness Vendors’ Promises", by Hielscher et al.

The objective of the analysis was to understand how statements on the websites of security awareness vendors aligns with customers' needs; the analysis also examined how websites relate to human-centered security challenges from prior research, and also the role of employees within organizations (as recipients of security awareness and training initiatives). The codebook emerged from a thematic analysis of 2,476 statements on 156 websites from 59 vendors. We gathered search terms from n = 30 awareness professionals to perform an automated Google search. The codebook, as presented here, is arranged into columns, with groups of codes in the first column, followed by the count of occurrences of each code across the transcripts, a brief Description of each code, and an example quote.
