Dear user,

This dataset contains the information required to make the frequency response functions and the time domain data as presented in https://doi.org/10.5194/wes-2022-115. Please be aware that the wind speed data set is quite large (~18 GB) and it takes some time to download and process it.

Two read-me files briefly explain the data's content and how the Matlab scripts are set up.

When the folder containing the data is placed in the same folder location as that of the Matlab scripts, they should run without issue. When completed the scripts will produce the same figures as those used in the referenced paper.

Background

The data used in this work (and also uploaded) is generated using QBlade (https://qblade.org) which is developed and maintained by TU Berlin. They are also part of the Floatech Project of which this work is also a part. Due to the close collaboration between the two parties, various quality-of-life updates were implemented into QBlade during the process of generating data for this work. For this reason, the data is not presented in the same way, however, the underlying physic solver remained the same throughout the research process.

The data is generated using the NREL 5MW turbine mounted on the OC3 platform. The use of a standardized turbine and floater design allows for easier comparison between different designs.
