The dataset contains supplementary data for the accepted paper: 'Modeling the effect of temperature and pressure on the peak and steady-state ply-ply friction response for UD C/PAEK tapes' to be published in Composites Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing. The dataset consists of ply-ply friction tests for UD C/PEEK and C/LM-PAEK tape in melt using a purpose-built friction tester, which simulates the response during actual hot press forming of thermoplastic matrix composites. Typically, the material response exhibits a peak followed by a steady-state friction depending on the applied rate. A range of sliding rates was measured at constant temperature and normal pressure conditions to construct a flow curve of the peak and steady-state shear stress versus applied rate, showing the rate-dependency in a comprehensible manner. Different temperature and normal pressure conditions were considered to investigate the effect of temperature and normal pressure on the friction response. The experimental procedure is outlined and an overview of the used specimens with the test conditions is provided. Our modeling work to predict the peak and steady-state friction for UD TPC tape in melt as presented in an earlier publication (DOI: 10.1016/j.compositesa.2022.107185) is extended to include the effect of temperature and normal pressure. The dataset includes the scripts for the shear flow model as well as the required matrix viscosity data. The Matlab scripts are named according to the figures as shown in the mentioned paper.
