This dataset contains data collected during experiments developing a Membrane biofilm reactor (MBfR) for optimized H2 delivery and supporting minimal nutrient supplementation to hydrogenotrophic biofilms. The objective of the research was to investigate the long-term performance of an MBfR used for hydrogenotrophic methanogenesis. The laboratory-scale MBfR was operated for 437 days, 396 of which were without additional nutrient supplementation. Numerous liquid and sludge samples were collected and analyzed over the experimental period. Reactor performance was evaluated based on the content of the product gas (CH₄), the production rate of CH₄, and the conversion efficiency of CO₂ and H₂. The concentration of nutrients in the liquid and sludge phases over the long term was assessed and related to reactor performance. This research data is being made public both to act as supplementary data for publication and in order for other researchers to use this data in their own work. This work was performed at Wetsus, European Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Water Technology.
