This collection contains datasets created as part of the doctoral thesis "Enabling ship changeability; a lifecycle approach to the maritime energy transition by Jesper Jan Zwaginga, M. Sc in Delft University of Technology, 2020-2025.

It is being made public both as supplementary data for the thesis and for other researchers to use in their own work.

The data is part of the project READINESS, project number TWM.BL.019.002, of the research programme“Topsector Water & Maritime: the Blue route,” which is partly financed by the Dutch Research Council (NWO).

The data included in the zip repository has the form of PY, .XLSX and .TXT. A detailed description follows next.

Python files

1. GED_system_architecture_functions.py: graph edit distance (GED) functions that are used by the code.py version to enable qualitative graph comparison.

2. GED_system_architecture_code.py: GED code to visualize graph comparison

3. Graph_based_library: contains code with which the network algorithm creates connections between systems. The python file also includes a small system library example, to enable recreation of graphs as described in chapter 5 of the dissertation.

Input and output data

1. System_attributes.xlsx: Includes all system and connection data necessary to build graphs described in dissertation chapter 5.

2. Sweeped_graph_de_wbal: txt file output from the graph_based_library code that can be used to recreate diesel generator (including operational systems such as ballast-tanks) figures from dissertation chapter 5, can be visualized using GED_system_architecture_code.py

3. Sweeped_graph_meoh_wbal: txt file output from the graph_based_library code that can be used to recreate methanol dual fuel generator (including operational systems such as ballast-tanks) figures from dissertation chapter 5, can be visualized using GED_system_architecture_code.py

4. Sweeped_graph_meoh_ratio: txt file output from the graph_based_library code that can be used to recreate methanol dual fuel generator figures (including alternative methanol-diesel mix ratio) from dissertation chapter 5, can be visualized using GED_system_architecture_code.py
