Inside EU Horizon 2020 project: ALPHEUS, a Positive Displacement Reversible Pump-Turbine is studied as potential use for low-head pumped hydro storage applications. Design calculations and 2.5D CFD simulations of a reversible lobe pump-turbine assess expected characteristic curves for a model scale rig in Technische Universität Braunschweig.
- A PhD thesis that describes the CFD setup and all the relevant numerical results is included : see Chapter 6.
- An Excel file gathers results from CFD simulation (flow rate, power, efficiencies, torques, pulsation level).
- The TwinMesh software is needed to generate the deformable mesh for each rotation position. The stator mesh file (created in ANSYS) is included as reference for TwinMesh, then TwinMesh exports and prepares all the setup to ANSYS CFX. The CFD boundary conditions to be indicated for each operating condition are described in the PhD thesis, Chapter 6.
- Two CFX files (exported from TwinMesh) are indicated as reference for pump and turbine mode. They cannot be run without the mesh files generated from TwinMesh and having a valid TwinMesh license.
- All relevant CFD results were saved to .csv files.
