Dataset

This dataset provides the optical and electrochemical data used for analysing the impact of macrogalvanic coupling on the local corrosion behaviour of AA2024-T3 and AA7075-T6. By using in situ reflected light microscopy coupled with electrochemical measurements, the goal is to identify and quantify the impact of the galvanic coupling on the kinetics and extent of changes due to local corrosion. The dataset presents optical (jpg) and electrochemical data (idf) for uncoupled and galvanically-coupled tests. Kinetics and extent of changes is measured from the optical dataset through change detection implemented through a simple image subtraction. The electrochemical data is analysed by considering the magnitudes observed as well as how they correspond to optically-observed changes. SEM images that supplement that optical data are also provided for some of the tests.
